Anchors, a component of a ship's system, will be revamped with new features and qualities for the Full Release.
Capstans will have a new appearance and more interactions besides just raising. Notably, for the crew to raise the capstan, it will require planks to be fitted. Capstan planks are stored in a player's inventory and can be added or removed from the capstan.
Animation-wise, the capstan will use procedural animation in which a player's character will interact with the capstan models without any glitches or improper handling.
Since the capstan will be a system component of the ship, it can likely be damaged.
Unlike the current game version, the anchor will be a physical model on ships that feature a lowering and raising animation.
The Galleon, for example, has two anchors. To lower the anchors, the player can interact with the capstan or individually lower a single anchor - which causes the ship to drift and reduce speed by half. To raise the anchors, the player must interact with the capstan equipped with planks.
Since the anchor will be a system component of the ship, it can likely be damaged.
On the topic of anchoring, ships can be anchored to ports using ropes. Towns and large outposts will have this feature with the addition of an animation playing in which your vessel is pulled into port by NPCs.
