The first predecessor of the Volney Mercantile Company, the Jenga Transaction Group, was founded on April 1st, 2021 as a company dedicated to the tracking and pricing of Jenga.

Ambitious plans to expand led to a renaming as Xurisha Investment and Banking which featured the first-ever working stock exchange on The Turbulent Seas. XIB incentivized the creation of companies and trading amongst players and was the first company to offer employment options. Although banking was a planned feature, the company fell into a dormant state after the decline of TTS.

In January 2022, XIB would be renamed the Volney Trading and Exchange Corporation. VTEC opened the first website for The Turbulent Seas which showcased articles and videos. Employment options were greatly expanded with the usage of contracts and the introduction of administrative staff who were responsible for writing articles and hosting events. The Volney Stock Exchange was reintroduced and was more accurate than its predecessor.

In July 2022, VTEC was renamed the Volney Mercantile Company. Many past services of VTEC were updated and improved to meet the standards of the new company. Ever since then, VMC has grown further as a business and become an economic beacon of The Turbulent Seas.
